  • Knowledge Exam - ELECTRONIC

    • 1 attempt at the online DOL Knowledge Exam.
    • Test available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Russian.
    • Bring your own internet-connected device (e.g. phone, tablet, or laptop), or use a school-provided device. You may also use headphones to access the audio-assist features of the exam.
    • You must have a License eXpress account. Please come prepared with your username & password.

We highly recommend you study the Washington Driver Guide. While some of the online practice tests are helpful, we feel like they give most applicants a false sense of the exam's difficulty.

A photo ID is required to test (i.e. state-issued ID, passport, military ID, school ID, or yearbook photo). Please be sure to pre-register with the DOL prior to testing. (If you have a Washington State ID or Permit, you are already pre-registered.)
